CSA - Week 10
Welcome Spring! Wishing you all lots of sunlight and warmth today!
What's in your share this week? - taprootfarms.ca/shares
Rapani seedlings popping through.
Frozen tomatoes can be used in any tomato sauce or added to soups or stews. They have the skins on, but we find you can hardly notice them at the end of cooking (plus they are extra fiber!).
The carrots in this weeks shares are half from us (the very last of our storage carrots) and then half from Elmridge. Spinach for today's shares are from Manning Family Farm in Falmouth, and tomorrow's spinach will be picked from our greenhouse. We will try and make our spinach go as far as possible, and then buy in more if need be. Both the spinach and the carrots are spray free.
The seedling greenhouse is about half full today. Broccolini, onions, parsley, and kohlrabi are all up and soaking up the sunshine and heat. Later this week for early next week we will be hooking up a wood furnace to the greenhouse on Church street, where more seedlings will go.
