This new share has been created in response to many people asking for a smaller option. We hear you. This share will consist of fruit and vegetables and is intended for very small families. We suggest this share feeds one person a couple of meals. The value is $10.00 per week. $240 for the 24 weeks from July 2 - December 16th.
This is an example of what you get in a winter full monty share.
The full monty share provides everything the farm has to offer: Vegetables, meat, eggs and fruit.
The value of the share has been calculated based on this:
- Vegetables value of $25 per week
- Meat value of $25 per week
- Egg value of $7 per week
- Fruit value of $10 per week (From Noggins Corner Farm).
Full Year - total of $67 per week or $3216 for 48 weeks
Half Year - total of $67 per week or $1608 for 24 weeks
Most vegetables in the share are certified organic with a few in transition to organic or non organic. We will outline how the vegetables were grown and by who if we purchase items from other farms.
The value for the whole year vegetable share is:
Large share $25 per week for 48 weeks = $1200
Small share $16 per week for 48 weeks = $768
Large share $25 per week for 24 weeks = $600
Small share $16 per week for 24 weeks = $384
You can expect your shares to have between 4-8 items each week.
TapRoot Farms Meat share is made up of licensed free range chickens, pastured pork and pastured beef. All our animals are fed a non GMO grain diet locally grown for us by a neighbouring farmer and is always free of additives and antibiotics.
If we need to buy in meat from other farmers in order to ensure a variety throughout the year we will be sure to source it from farms who have the same growing practices as us.
Full Year - value is $25 per week for 48 weeks or $1200 for the full year
Half Year - value is $25 per week for 24 weeks or $600 for the full year
TAPROOT EGG SHARE (ONLY FULL YEAR SHARES)
Our hens eat non gmo grain grown in the Annapolis Valley. They spend as much time as they wish outside and are closed up at night to keep them safe from predators.
The cost is $7 per dozen or $4 per 1/2 dozen
$7 per week for 48 weeks = $336
$4 per week for 48 weeks = $192
Egg shares are limited in number by how many full monty shares we sell.
Noggins Corner is where Patricia grew up. Her family farms lots of delicious fruit that we get to eat year round.
Full Year - share is valued at $10 per week for 48 weeks = $480
Half Year - Share is valued at $10 per week for 24 weeks - $240
During the summer and fall you can expect lots of berries, various varieties of apples, pears, plums, peaches, etc. In the winter you can expect lots of apples, cranberries, cider, jams and pears.
This share is not organic. Dad uses current industry standards of integrated pest management and preventative practices to manage the orchards. It is a family business with my brother in law Dwaine managing the orchards and sister Carolyn running many aspects of the business. And you will find Dad (Andrew) at Seaport each week. Beth (Dad's spouse) runs the corn maze and school tours. Not to mention my grandparents are out and about the farm often and still live on the farm.
Please note that your invoice will say full payment due December 1st, 2017, this is not necessary.
See below for more payment information.
We collect a $25.00 per year administration fee from each CSA member who registers. This fee covers:

What if I don't want to continue?
Please seriously consider if this is the right step for you and your family. If you change your mind and find the CSA is not working out for you there are two options (refunds are not available):
1) Ask a friend, colleague or family member to take it over for you OR 2) donate it to a family in need/foodbank
As we share the season and the realities of farming with you, your commitment is critical to our ability to carry on into the next year.
Please read over all of the details, ask questions, and discuss joining the CSA with your family prior to registration to be sure you are committed.
